Perform actuation test of the fuel pump relay using a scantool.
If fuel pump is operated directly, fuel pump relay control circuit should be checked. The purpose of the inspection is to check fuel pump relay control circuit.
Connect a scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC).
Disconnect the fuel pump relay.

Connect red tongs of the LED volt circuit tester to battery(+) and probe of the LED volt circuit tester to terminal "86" of the fuel pump relay(Junction box side).
Perform actuation test of the fuel pump relay using a scantool.
Is the LED volt circuit tester lit (When fuel pump relay is operated by actuation test)?
YES
Faulty fuel pump relay.
NO
Check for open or short to chassis ground between fuel pump relay(Junction box side) and PCM harness connector.
Faulty PCM.
