Description

The purpose of the Inspection is to analyze the cause of poor power/acceleration through ignition coil inspection.

Diagnostic Procedure
Ignition coil resistance Inspection
1.

IG "OFF"

2.

Measure primary resistance after removing ignition coil connectors. (Primary resistance is measured between (+) terminals and (-) terminals.)

3.

Measure secondary resistance after removing a ignition coil. (Secondary resistance is measured between (+) terminals and center terminals.)

A.

Specification :

Primary Coil resistance : 0.62 ± 10% Ω

Secondary Coil resistance : 7.0 ± 15% kΩ

4.

Are the primary and secondary resistance of the ignition coil normal?

YES

Ignition coil is OK.

NO

Replace the ignition coil.

■ The primary ignition coil waveform Inspection

1. Engine "ON"

2. Connect a scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC).

3. Measure the primary coil waveform using oscilloscope function. (Measure the primary coil waveform between ignition coil control terminal and chassis ground.)

Specification : A : 1.0~2.0mS, B : 300~400V
