Inspect VGT solenoid valve operation and vacuum control by using current data inspection and vacuum gauge.
IG KEY "ON", ENGINE "ON"
Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
Electrical system and A/CON "OFF".
Select "Engine speed sensor", "VGT actuator" and "Boost pressure sensor" parameters on the scantool.
Monitor "Engine speed sensor", "VGT actuator" and "Boost pressure sensor". (Connect vacuum gauge to VGT vacuum hose using "T" pipe if possible.)
Engine speed sensor : Must keep 790 ± 50 rpm at idle.
VGT solenoid : Must keep 71.8 % at idle.
VGT control vacuum : Must keep appox. -58 Kpa at VGT solenoid duty 71.8 %
Boost pressure sensor : Must keep atmospheric pressure of present vehicle position (refer to atmospheric pressure current data) ± 100 hPa at idle.
Monitor changed data of "VGT actuator", "Boost pressure sensor" and changed vacuum at stall test.
"Stall Test" of "Details Inspection(Equipment Setting)" reference
Engine speed sensor : 2,800 ± 100 rpm at stall test.
VGT solenoid : 43.9 % at stall test.
VGT control vacuum : Must keep appox. - 30 Kpa at VGT solenoid duty 43.9 % at stall test.
Boost pressure sensor : 2,300 ± 100 hPa at stall test.
Case 1 : In case that vacuum is not measured in the VGT vacuum actuator hose or strong vacuum is measured continuously,
Repair VGT solenoid valve (stuck, blocked, leakage) after checking vacuum hose connection.
- Go to "vacuum hose connection inspection" procedure.
Case 2 : In case that vacuum is changed normally but "Boost pressure sensor" is not increased or increased slightly,
Go to "Intake system leakage inspection" procedure.
Case 3 : In case that vacuum is changed normally but "Boost pressure sensor" is increased highly,
Go to "VGT stuck inspection" procedure.
