Excessive exhaust smoke (white, black) could be discharged by imperfect combustion. Imperfect combustion would be caused by abnormal mixture of air and diesel fuel. A lot of particle material (PM) are generated after combustion process in diesel engine. Particle material (PM) is reduced by keeping engine speed (Don`t start, depress the accelerator pedal fully. Try to avoid hard stops.).
1. Black smoke : Excessive exhaust gases are discharged by imcompelet combustion. Black smoke could be created by agglutination of carbon in the exhaust gas.
2. White smoke : Imcompelet combustion could be caused by abnormal condition of diesel fuel (fuel temperature and air temperature). Therefore, diesel fuel which is not burned could be discharged by imcompelet combustion. White smoke could be created by agglutination between diesel fuel which is not burned and low temperature water in the air.
Case 1 : In case that excessive black smoke is discharged intermittently through muffler when vehicle is accelerated quickly.(Black smoke in the exhaust pipe, catalytic converter and muffler would be discharged.)
Go to "Blow the particle material (PM)" procedure.
Case 2 : In case that a lot of black smokes are discharged through muffler and serious poor acceleration occurs when vehicle is accelerated quickly.
Go to "Poor power / poor acceleration inspection" procedure.
Case 3 : In case that black or white smoke is discharged through muffler and engine hesitation, poor acceleration occur for few seconds after cold starting.
Go to "Exhaust Fumes is Discharged at Cold Start" procedure.
Case 4 : In case that black or white smoke is discharged through muffler and slight poor acceleration and engine knocking sound occur while driving.
Go to "Exhaust Fumes Accompanied by Slight Poor Power" procedure.
