Description

When the cause of impossible cranking is battery discharged, Inspect the battery condition after charging the battery. If battery is discharged, Inspect that battery is discharged by turning lamp on such as tail lamp, room lamp, courtesy lamp etc...or abnormal charging system or a leakage current.

Diagnostic Procedure
Battery voltage inspection
1.

IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"

2.

Measure the voltage of the battery.

A.

Specification : 11.5 ~ 13.0 V

B.

Case 1 : In case that battery voltage is low. (blow 11.5 V)

Inspect the battery condition after charging the battery.

If battery voltage is normal and engine cranking is possible after charging, Inspect the cause of battery discharged.

If there is no cause (is not turned lamp on),

- Go to "Charging voltage inspection" procedure.

C.

Case 2 : In case that battery voltage is normal. (11.5 ~ 13.0 V)

If battery voltage is normal but engine cranking is impossible (battery voltage go down suddenly),

- Go to "Battery load test" procedure.

D.

Case 3 : In case that battery voltage is high. (above 14 V)

Repair charging system after checking the multitester.
