This test of scantool is used for detecting the cylinder that causes engine hesitation. The velocity of revolution difference is displayed when fuel injection compensation of ECM be stopped. ECM calculates the number of revolution in each cylinder by using CKPS signal. This test result is very comprehensive and includes variation of injection quantity, engine hardware (compression pressure, intake/exhaust valve...etc) and so on. Refer to the test result for inspection of engine hesitation.
IG KEY "ON", ENGINE "ON".
Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature. (above 80℃)
Select "Engine test function" on the scantool.
Information of ECM version and function available or not is displayed as blow. Press "ENTER" key.
Select "02.Idle speed comparison" on the scantool.
Set the test condition as blow screen and Press "ENTER" key.
The test result (rpm data) of each cylinder is displayed on the scantool.
Cylinder engine speed (rpm) is displayed.
Press "AVG" key after pressing "ANAL" key.
If there is engine hesitation in the vehicle, The symptom would get worse while testing. Because fuel injection compensation of ECM be stopped while testing.
"03.Injection quantity comparison test" in the "Engine test function" compensates each cylinder equally by increasing (or decreasing) fuel injection quantity.
This result is artificial data when each injector connector is disconnected by turns, refer to above data while inspecting.
