Remove the fuel filter relay from the fusible link box.
First of all check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.
When hard starting occurs after parking for a long time in the winter (blow -5℃), Inspect diesel fuel frozen and fuel filter heater.
IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"
Remove the fuel filter relay from the fusible link box.
Measure the voltage of the fuel filter relay terminal. (Fusible link box side)
Case 1 : In case that battery voltage is not supplied at terminal "1".
Repair fuel filter heater fusible link (30A) blown on the fusible link box.
If fusible link is blown again,
- Repair short to ground in power circuit between fuel filter heater relay connector (C225) terminal "2" and fuel filter heater connector (C227) terminal "2".
Repair the fuel filter heater. (Short or resistance is too low.)
Case 2 : In case that battery voltage is not supplied on the terminal "5" at IG KEY "ON".
Repair ABS fuse (10A) blown on the U/H junction box.
Repair open in coil power circuit between U/H junction box connector (U/H-U) terminal "34" and fuel filter heater relay connector (C225) terminal "5".
If ABS fuse (10A) is blown again,
- Repair short to ground in coil power circuit betweenbetween U/H junction box connector (U/H-U) terminal "34" and fuel filter heater relay connector (C225) terminal "5".
IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"
Disconnect the fuel filter heater switch connector.
IG KEY "ON", ENGINE "OFF"
Measure the voltage of the fuel filter heater switch connector. (Fuel filter relay is installed.)
Case 1 : In case that battery voltage is not supplied on the terminal "2" at IG KEY "ON".
Repair open in fuel filter heater relay control circuit between fuel filter heater relay connector (C225) terminal "3" and fuel filter heater sensor (Thermo switch) connector (C268) terminal "2".
If there is no problem in fuel filter heater relay control circuit,
- Go to "Fuel filter heater relay inspection" procedure.
Inspect fuel filter heater switch ground circuit.
Specification : Below 1.0 Ω (20℃)
Connect fuel filter heater connector terminal "1" and "2" directly with jump wire.
Case 1 : In case that fuel filter relay is actuated and fuel filter is hot after approx 20 seconds.
Inspect the fuel filter heater switch.(Fuel filter heater switch should be actuated (continuity) in the below -5℃ (Using a refrigerator).)
If fuel filter heater switch is not actuated in the below -5℃, Replace the fuel filter heater switch.
Case 2 : In case that fuel filter relay is actuated but fuel filter is not hot.
Go to "fuel filter heater power circuit inspection" procedure.
Case 3 : In case that fuel filter relay is not actuated.
Go to "fuel filter relay inspection" procedure.
IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"
Remove the fuel filter relay from the fusible link box.
Before measuring resistance, you must calibrate(0Ω) the tester.
"Multitester Calibration" of "Details Inspection(Equipment Setting)" reference
Measure the resistance between fuel filter heater relay (C225) terminal "2" and chassis ground.
Specification : 0.5Ω ± 10% ( 20℃ )
Case 1 : In case of discontinuity,
Repair the fuel filter power circuit after checking fuel filter heater resistance refer to "Fuel filter heater resistance inspection" procedure.
Repair open in fuel filter power circuit between fuel filter heater relay connector (C225) terminal "2" and fuel filter heater connector (C227) terminal "2".
Repair open in fuel filter power circuit between fuel filter heater connector (C227) terminal "1" and chassis ground (G13).
