Description

If FTS (Fuel Temperature Sensor), ECTS (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor) data is too high, ECM decrease engine and fuel temperature by limiting engine power(decreasing fuel injection quantity) for protecting engine and fuel system. If poor acceleration, poor acceleration occurs while driving, Inspect whether FTS, ECTS, IATS (Intake Air Temperature Sensor) are too high or not.

FTS : Fuel injection quantity limitation is performed from FTS 80℃. If FTS is above 83℃, Poor power occurs and driver can feel the symptom by decreasing fuel injection quantity. If FTS is above 105℃, ECM turn off the engine for protecting fuel system.

ECTS : If ECTS is too high, cooling fan speed is controlled (increased) by engine coolant temperature. But if ECTS is above 129℃, Engine rpm is limited by ECM. (Acceleration above 2,800 rpm is impossible.)

Diagnostic Procedure
Engine current data inspection.

IG KEY "ON", ENGINE "ON"

Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).

5.

Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.

6.

Electrical system and A/CON "OFF".

7.

Select "Fuel quantity", "Fuel temperature", "Water temperature sensor" and "Engine speed sensor" parameters on the scantool.

8.

Monitor that "Fuel temperature", "Water temperature sensor" is higher than normal data.

A.

FTS : 45 ~ 70℃ after warming up.

ECTS : 80 ~ 105℃ after warming up.

B.

Case 1 : In case that FTS (Fuel Temperature sensor) is above 80℃.

First of all, Check driver"s the driving habit (vehicle is driven long time continuously or a lot of high load is applied).

Refer to DTC Troubleshooting Procedure "P0183 Fuel temperature sensor A circuit high input", Repair circuit and fuel temperature sensor component.

C.

Case 2 : In case that ECTS (Engine Coolant Temperature sensor) is above 125℃.

First of all, Check driver"s the driving habit (vehicle is driven long time continuously or a lot of high load is applied).

Inspect coolant level, coolant gravity, radiator blocked, thermostat close stuck, cooling fan operation.
