Engine Hesitation is caused by inacurrate engine timing, no Idle-up signal, abnormal fuel or faulty fuel sensor & actuator. The purpose of "Basic Inspection" is to check engine timing, Idle-up signal, fuel condition and sensor & actuator.
Set the TDC mark on the crankshaft pulley with the "T" pointer.
Set the timing marks on the camshaft sprockets(Left,Right) with the pointers of the cylinder head covers(Left,Right).
Are TDC marks on the Pointers?
YES
Go to "Fuel condition inspection" procedure as below.
NO
Repair or Replace the timing belt.
Engine "ON" and allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
Connect a scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
Check current data after turn air conditioner "ON".
Specification : refer to below current data.
This current data is nothing but an example at certain condition. Thus, the real current data and waveform could be different from this example.
Is current data displayed normally when each idle up signal is applied?
YES
Go to "Fuel condition Inspection" procedure as below.
NO
Check Input signal(to PCM) such as A/con switch and repair as necessary.
IG "OFF"
Remove the fuel pump and inspect the fuel condition.
Is the fuel normal?
YES
Go to "sensor and actuator inspection in the basic inspection" procedure.
NO
Replace the fuel.
■ Characteristic of abnormal gasoline
1) Toxic odor
2) Eyes stung
3) Hard vaporizing
4) Knocking suddenly after fuelling up
5) Hard starting after fuelling up(In the winter)
■ Influence of abnormal gasoline
1) Knocking
2) Excessive fuel consumption
3) Poor power/acceleration
4) Fuel system damage such as fuel pump, Injector and component of the combustion-camber damage (piston etc...)
5) Deposit rising or corrosion (in the engine and fuel system)
6) Fuel pressure decrease or Engine stalling by vapor lock.
7) Impossible starting by low volatile
8) Discharge carcinogen
9) Discharge pollutant(CO, HC, NOx etc...)
