Component Inspection
1. Check A/C Control Unit
1.

Engine "ON".

2.

Disconnect passenger air mix actuator.

3.

Measure voltage value between terminal "1" of A/C control unit and chassis ground.

a.

Specification : 5V

4.

Is the measured voltage within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Check passenger air mix actuator" procedure.

NO

a.

Substitute with a known-good A/C Control Unit and check for proper operation.

If the problem is corrected, replace A/C Control Unit and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

2. Check passenger air mix actuator.
5.

Check actuator motor

(1)

Ignition "OFF".

(2)

Disconnect passenger air mix actuator.

(3)

Connect (+) terminal of battery to one motor terminal and (-) terminal to the other motor terminal of passenger air mix actuator.

(4)

Dose operation of temperature actuator coincide with specification in Fig3)

YES

a.

Go to "Check potentiometer" procedure.

NO

a.

Substitute with a known-good actuator and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace actuator and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

6.

Check actuator potentiometer

(1)

Ignition "ON".

(2)

Connect passenger air mix actuator.

(3)

Measure voltage between terminal "5" and "6"(LHD) or "6" and "7"(RHD) of passenger air mix actuator while operating the temp switch.

a.

Specification : Refer the specifications in fig3)

(4)

Is the measured voltage within specifications in fig3)?

YES

a.

Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

NO

a.

Substitute with a known-good actuator and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace actuator and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
