Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

YES

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure

NO

▶ Go to " Power Circuit Inspection " procedure.

Power Supply Circuit Inspection

■ Check voltage

1.

IG "OFF".

2.

Disconnect the main relay.

3.

IG "ON" and ENG "OFF"

4.

Measure the voltage between power supply terminals of main relay harness connector and chassis ground.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

YES

a.

Go to "Check open in harness" as follows.

NO

a.

Check the fuse between battery and main relay.

b.

Repair open or short to ground in power harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure .

■ Check open in harness

6.

IG "OFF".

7.

Disconnect main relay and PCM connector.

8.

Measure the resistance between main relay "ON" power terminal of main relay harness connector and main relay "ON" power terminals of PCM harness connector.

Specification : Approx. below 1Ω

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

YES

a.

Go to "Check short in harness" procedure.

NO

a.

Repair open in harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure .

■ Check short in harness

10.

IG "OFF".

11.

Disconnect main relay and PCM connector.

12.

Measure the resistance between main relay "ON" power terminal of main relay harness connector and chassis ground.

a.

Specification : Infinite

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

YES

a.

Go to "Control Circuit Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Repair short in harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Control Circuit Inspection

■ Check short in harness

1.

IG "OFF".

2.

Disconnect main relay and PCM connector.

3.

Measure the resistance between control terminal of main relay harness connector and chasses ground.

Specification : Infinite

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

YES

a.

Go to "Check open in harness" procedure.

NO

a.

Repair short in control harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check open in harness

5.

IG "OFF".

6.

Disconnect main relay and PCM connector.

7.

Measure the resistance between control terminal of main relay harness connector and main relay control terminal of PCM harness connector.

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

YES

a.

Go to "System Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Repair open in control harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
