Fuel consumption is affected by condition of Alternator. Alternator should be checked.
ENG "ON"
Check current data after connecting a scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC).
Check difference between battery voltage when electric devices(head lamp, defogger…) are operated and battery voltage after turning off electric device. (If electric devices are turned on, battery voltage is decreasing suddenly and increasing to normal voltage immediately)
Is battery voltage increasing after decreasing suddenly when electric load is applied?
YES
System is OK
NO
Check electrical accessory installation.
Check the tension of alternator belt.
Check the battery terminal and B terminal of alternator (tightening condition and corrosion).
Replace the battery and alternator.
■ Inspection with ampere meter
1. ENG "ON"
2. Connecting clamp-on meter to B terminal of alternator [toward (+) terminal of battery]
3. Turn electric devices on such as head lamps, defogger, etc...
4. Check ampere of the clamp-on meter accelerating engine over 2000 rpm.
5. Is increasing ampere of ampere meter after accelerating when electric load is applied?
YES
Check or Replace the battery.
NO
Check electrical accessory installation.
Check the tension of the alternator belt.
Check the battery terminal and B terminal of the alternator (tightening condition and corrosion).
Replace the alternator.
