In case that engine stalls suddenly, Inspect power supply circuit open or poor connection related with ECM. Inspect fuse and fusible link blown or poor connection related with engine starting in the engine compartment junction block.
Case 1 :
In case of sensor1 fuse (10A) blown at ENGINE "ON", DTCs are displayed as below.
- "P0231 Electric fuel pump relay - open or short circuit"
- "P0504 Brake pedal position A/B correlation"
- "P0646 A/C clutch relay control circuit low"
Engine stalls.
In case of sensor1 fuse (10A) blown at IG KEY "ON" and cranking, DTCs are displayed as below.
- "P0231 Electric fuel pump relay - open or short circuit"
- "P0504 Brake pedal position A/B correlation"
- "P0646 A/C clutch relay control circuit low"
Engine starting is impossible.
Sensor1 fuse (10A) blown. : Replace the fuse. If the fuse is blown again, Repair power circuit of fuel pump relay, A/Con relay, brake switch1 short to ground.
Sensor1 fuse (10A) is normal : Repair open or poor connection in circuit related with fuse.
Case 2 :
In case of sensor2 fuse (10A) blown at ENGINE "ON", DTCs are displayed as below.
- "P0340 Camshaft position sensor A circuit malfunction (Bank 1 or single sensor)"
- "P0489 Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit low voltage"
- "P2113 Throttle control actuator circuit malfunction - Range / Performance"
- "P2112 Throttle control actuator circuit low"
- "P0047 VGT vacuum modulator circuit low"
- "P0670 Glow relay circuit malfunction"
- "P1634 Auxiliary heater malfunction"
Vehicle can not be accelerated above 3,000 rpm at neutral and Stall rpm can not be above 1,600 rpm.
In case of sensor2 fuse (10A) blown at IG KEY "ON" and cranking, DTCs are displayed as below.
- "P0340 Camshaft position sensor A circuit malfunction (Bank 1 or single sensor)"
- "P0489 Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit low voltage"
- "P2113 Throttle control actuator circuit malfunction - Range / Performance"
- "P2112 Throttle control actuator circuit low"
- "P0047 VGT vacuum modulator circuit low"
- "P0670 Glow relay circuit malfunction"
- "P1634 Auxiliary heater malfunction"
Engine starting is impossible.
Sensor2 fuse (10A) blown : Replace the fuse. If the fuse is blown again, Repair power circuit of CMPS, EGR solenoid valve, throttle position sensor, VGT solenoid valve, glow relay, PTC heater relay1 short to ground.
Sensor2 fuse (10A) is normal : Repair open or poor connection in circuit related with fuse.
Case 3 :
In case of sensor3 fuse (15A) blown at ENGINE "ON", Engine stalls immediately.
- Engine stalls immediately. Fuel pump relay and condenser fan relay is operated repeatedly.
In case of sensor3 fuse (15A) blown at IG KEY "ON" and cranking,
- DTC is not displayed and communication between ECM and scantool is impossible because main relay is not operated (Malfunction indicator light and immobilizer warning indicator light is not "ON") .
Sensor3 fuse (15A) is blown. : Replace the fuse. If the fuse is blown again, Repair power circuit short to ground between U/H junction box connector (U/H-C) terminal "1" and ECM connector (C230-K) terminal "1".
Sensor3 fuse (15A) is normal. : Go to "Main relay circuit inspection" procedure.
Case 4 :
In case of fuel pump fuse (15A) blown at ENGINE "ON", DTCs are displayed as below.
- "P1186 Fuel pressure monitoring - Minimum pressure at engine speed too low"
- "P0087 Rail pressure monitoring - Minimum pressure at engine speed too low"
- "P1171 Minimum rail pressure exceeded"
Engine stalls immediately and Engine starting is impossible.
Fuel pump fuse (15A) is blown : Replace the fuse. If the fuse is blown again, Repair power circuit short to ground between U/H junction box connector (U/H-U) terminal "9" and fuel pump connector (F22) terminal "4".
Fuel pump fuse (15A) is normal : Go to "Fuel pump relay inspection" procedure.
Case 5 :
In case of ECU fuse (10A) blown at ENGINE "ON", Engine stalls immediately and Engine starting is impossible.
- DTC is not displayed and communication between ECM and scantool is impossible because main relay is not operated.
ECU fuse (10A) is blown : Replace the fuse. If the fuse is blown again, Repair power circuit of MAFS, vehicle speed sensor or IG KEY "ON" signal short to ground.
ECU fuse (10A) is normal : Go to "IG KEY "ON" signal inspection" procedure.
Case 6 :
In case of IG coil fuse (20A) blown at ENGINE "ON", DTCs are displayed as below.
- "P2015 Intake manifold runner position sensor / switch circuit range / performance (Bank1)"
- "P0611 Injector circuit malfunction (More than two injectors)"
Engine stalls immediately and Engine starting is impossible.
IG coil fuse (20A) is blown. : Replace the fuse. If the fuse is blown again, Repair power circuit short to ground between U/H junction box connector (U/H-C) terminal "7 (36)" and ECM connector (C230-K) terminal "5 (3)".
IG coil fuse (20A) is normal. : Go to "Main relay circuit inspection" procedure.
Case 7 :
In case of ECU main fusible link (40A) blown at ENGINE "ON", Engine stalls immediately and Engine starting is impossible.
- DTC is not displayed and communication between ECM and scantool is impossible because main relay is not operated.
ECU main fusible link (40A) is blown : Replace the fusible link. If the fusible link is blown again, Replace the U/H junction box because of short circuit to ground in the junction box.
ECU main fusible link (40A) is normal : Repair open or poor connection in the U/H junction box.
Case 8 :
In case of IGN #1 fusible link (40A) blown at ENGINE "ON", Engine stalls immediately.
- DTC is not displayed and communication between ECM and scantool is impossible because main relay is not operated. (All lights on the cluster is not "ON")
IGN #1 fusible link (40A) is blown : Replace the fusible link. If the fusible link is blown again, Repair IGN #1 power circuit short to ground.
IGN #1 fusible link (40A) is normal : Go to "IG KEY "ON" signal inspection" procedure.
