Description

The purpose of the Inspection is to analyze whether the cause of the irregular hesitation is due to fuel system or intake/exhaust system. When air-fuel mixture is lean due to the problem of fuel system, Throttle(ETC) is opened for target RPM. And therefore MAF rises because intake air flow is increased. In case of fault of intake/exhaust system such as leakage of vacuum or blocked intake/exhaust, MAF is decreased.

Diagnostic Procedure
1.

Engine "ON" and allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.

2.

Connect a scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).

3.

Check current data.

Specification : Refer to current data as below.

This current data is nothing but an example at certain condition. Thus, the real current data and waveform could be different from this example.

Is current data normal?

A.

When current data is similar to [Fig.3],

Go to "Fuel system inspection" procedure.

B.

When current data is similar to [Fig.4],

Go to "Intake/exhaust system inspection" procedure.
