Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

YES

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure

NO

▶ Go to " Power Circuit Inspection " procedure.

Power Supply Circuit Inspection

■ Check voltage

1.

IG "OFF" and disconnect Ignition Coil #2 connector.

2.

IG "ON" and ENG "OFF"

3.

Measure voltage between power terminal of ignition coil #2 harness connector and chassis ground.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

YES

a.

Go to "Control Circuit Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Check fuse connected to ignition coil for open.

b.

Repair open in harness, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Control Circuit Inspection

■ Check short to battery in harness

1.

IG "OFF" and disconnect ignition coil #2 connector and PCM connector.

2.

Measure resistance between power and control terminals of ignition coil #2 harness connector.

Specification : Infinite

Is the measured resistance within specification?

YES

a.

Go to "Check short to ground in harness" as follows.

NO

a.

Repair short to battery in harness, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check short to ground in harness

4.

IG "OFF" and disconnect ignition coil #2 connector and PCM connector.

5.

Measure resistance between control terminal of ignition coil #2 harness connector and chassis ground.

a.

Specification : Infinite

Is the measured resistance within specification?

YES

a.

Go to "Check open in harness" as follows.

NO

a.

Repair short to ground in harness, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check open in harness

7.

IG "OFF" and disconnect Ignition Coil #2 connector and PCM connector.

8.

Measure resistance between control terminal of Ignition Coil #2 harness connector and IG Coil #2 control terminal of PCM harness connector.

Specification : Below 1Ω

Is the measured resistance within specification?

YES

a.

Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Repair open in harness, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
