Drain the engine coolant.
System is under high pressure when the engine is hot.
To avoid danger of releasing scalding engine coolant, remove the cap only when the engine is cool.
Using the hexagon wrench, turn the tensioner counterclockwise and loosen. Then remove the drive belt (A).
Remove the water pump pulley (A).
Remove the water pump (A) with the gasket (B).
Remove the water inlet pipe (A) with the O-ring (B).
Remove the water pump cover (A) with the gasket (B).
Check each part for cracks, damage or wear, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
Check the bearing for damage, abnormal noise and sluggish rotation, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
Check for coolant leakage. If coolant leaks from hole, the seal is defective. Replace the water pump assembly.
A small amount of "weeping" from the bleed hole is normal.
Install the water pump cover (A) and a new gasket (B).
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 24.5N.m (2.0 ~ 2.5kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 18.1lb-ft)
Install the water inlet pipe (A) with a new O-ring (B).
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 24.5N.m (2.0 ~ 2.5kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 18.1lb-ft)
When installing the water pipe into water housing, keep the surface of O-ring from dust and oil and be careful no to damage the surface of the O-ring. And apply a coat of alhorm(BW-0431) or equivalent (not engine oil).
Install the water pump (A) with a new gasket (B).
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 24.5N.m (2.0 ~ 2.5kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 18.1lb-ft)
Install the water pump pulley (A).
Tightening torque :
7.8 ~ 11.8N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 8.7lb-ft)
Install the drive belt (A).
Fill with engine coolant.
Start engine and check for leaks.
Recheck engine coolant level.
