Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,or damage.

IG key"ON", ENGINE "ON"
Connect 4WD ECM and Steering angle sensor connector.
Monitor signal waveform between signal 2 of 4WD ECM harness connector and chassis ground.
Turn steering Wheel to the right or left.

Is Steering angle sensor #2 Signal display near the specified value?
| ▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or 4WD ECM(TCCU's) connector or was repaired and 4WD ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure |
| ▶ Go to " Steering angle sensor Reference voltage inspection " procedure. |
IG key "ON", ENGINE "OFF".
Disconnect Steering angle sensor connector
Measure voltage between Referance 5V of Steering angle sensor harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification : Approx. 5V

| ▶ Go to "Steering angle sensor ground harness open circuit inspection" procedure. |
| ▶ Check for Steering angle sensor Reference harness. ▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
IG key "OFF", ENGINE "OFF".
Connect 4WD ECM and Steering angle sensor connector
Measure resistance between Ground of 4WD ECM harness connector and chassis ground .
Specification : 1Ω below.

| ▶ Check for open circuit of Steering angle sensor ground harness. ▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
IG key "OFF" , ENGINE "OFF".
Disconnect 4WD ECM and Steering angle sensor connector
Measure resistance between signal 2 of 4WD ECM harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification : ∝ Ω

Disconnect 4WD ECM and Steering angle sensor connector
Measure resistance between signal 1 of Steering angle sensor harness connector and 4WD ECM harness connector.

| ▶ Substitute with a known-good 4WD ECM or Steering angle sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace 4WD ECM and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
