Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Electrical systems consist of a lot of harness and connectors, poor connection of terminals can cause various problems and damage of component.

2.

Perform checking procedure as follows.

(1)

Check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.

(2)

Check connecting condition of ECM and component connector : Check terminal separation, damage of locking device and connecting condition between terminal and wiring.

Disconnect the pin which requires checking at male connector and insert it to the terminal at female connector for checking connecting condition.(After checking, reconnect the pin at correct position.)

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair the trouble causing part and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection".

Power Circuit Inspection
■ Check voltage in power circuit
1.

IG key OFF.

2.

Disconnect 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' connector.

3.

IG key ON.

4.

Check voltage between the fuse terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH 1' harness connector and chassis ground.

5.

Check voltage between the fuse terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH 2' harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : 10.5V ~ 14.5V

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection".

▶ If no voltage is detected,

☞ Repair open / short to ground between 'STOP LP FUSE 15A' terminal of 'I/P JUNCTION BOX' harness connector and 'STOP LP FUSE 15A' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

☞ Repair open / short to ground between 'ECU-2 FUSE 10A' terminal of 'E/R JUNCTION BOX' harness connector and 'ECU-2 FUSE 10A' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ If the voltage is high than specification value,

☞ Repair short to battery between 'STOP LP FUSE 15A' terminal of 'I/P JUNCTION BOX' harness connector and 'STOP LP FUSE 15A' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

☞ Repair open / short to ground between 'ECU-2 FUSE 10A' terminal of 'E/R JUNCTION BOX' harness connector and 'ECU-2 FUSE 10A' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
■ Check voltage in signal circuit
1.

IG key OFF.

2.

Disconnect 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' connector and ECM connector.

3.

Disconnect 'ENGINE CONTROL RELAY' of 'E/R JUNCTION BOX'.

4.

Connect 'ECU FUSIBLE LINK 30A' terminal and 'Engine control relay ON' terminal of 'ENGINE CONTROL RELAY' using jump wire.

5.

IG key ON.

6.

Check voltage between 'Brake main switch signal' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector and chassis ground. (brake switch 1)

7.

Check voltage between 'Redundant brake switch signal' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector and chassis ground. (brake switch 2)

11.5V~13.0V

8.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Open in signal circuit" as follows.

■ Open in signal circuit

IG key OFF.

10.

Disconnect 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' connector and ECM connector.

11.

Check resistance between 'Brake main switch signal' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector and 'Brake main switch signal' terminal of ECM harness connector.

12.

Check resistance between 'Redundant brake switch signal' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector and 'Redundant brake switch signal' terminal of ECM harness connector.

Specification : Continuity (Below 1.0Ω)

13.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Repair short to battery / ground between 'Brake main switch signal' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector and 'Brake main switch signal' terminal of ECM harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Repair short to battery / ground between 'Redundant brake switch signal' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector and 'Redundant brake switch signal' terminal of ECM harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Repair open between 'Brake main switch signal' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector and 'Brake main switch signal' terminal of ECM harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Repair open between 'Redundant brake switch signal' terminal of 'STOP LAMP SWITCH' harness connector and 'Redundant brake switch signal' terminal of ECM harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
