Electrical systems consist of a lot of harness and connectors, poor connection of terminals can cause various problems and damage of component.

Perform checking procedure as follows.

2.1) Check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.

2.2) Check connecting condition of ECM and component connector : Check terminal separation, damage of locking device and connecting condition between terminal and wiring.

Disconnect the pin which requires checking at male connector and insert it to the terminal at female connector for checking connecting condition.(After checking, reconnect the pin at correct position.)

Is the problem found?

	▶ Repair the trouble causing part and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection".

Check voltage between 'ON/START input' terminal of 'FUEL FILTER WARNING SENSOR' harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : 10.5V~14.5V

Is the measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection".
	▶ Repair open between fuse terminal of 'FUEL FILTER WARNING SENSOR' harness connector and 'ON/START input' terminal of ECM harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Check voltage between 'Indicator' terminal of 'FUEL FILTER WARNING SENSOR' harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : 0.0V ~ 0.1V

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Water warning lamp operation test" as follows.

▶ Repair short to battery between 'Fuel filter warning' terminal of 'INSTRUMENT CLUSTER' harness connector and 'Water in fuel sensor' terminal of ECM harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Repair short to battery between 'Indicator' terminal of 'FUEL FILTER WARNING SENSOR' harness connector and 'Water in fuel sensor' terminal of ECM harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Jump 'ON/START input' terminal and 'Indicator' terminal of 'FUEL FILTER WARNING SENSOR' of harness connector with jumper wire.

IG key ON.

Specification : FUEL FILTER WARNING lamp "ON".

Check voltage between 'Water in fuel sensor' terminal of ECM harness connector.

Specification : 10.5V ~ 14.5V

Is the measured value within specification and does FUEL FILTER WARNING lamp turn ON?

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection".

▶ Repair open 'FUEL FILTER WARNING' lamp filament and related circuit, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

▶ Repair open between 'Indicator' terminal of 'FUEL FILTER WARNING SENSOR' harness connector and 'Water in fuel sensor' terminal of ECM harness connector, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Check resistance between 'Ground' terminal of 'FUEL FILTER WARNING SENSOR' harness connector and 'Ground' terminal of ECM harness connector.

Specification : Continuity (Below 1.0Ω)

Is the measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Repair open OR eliminate the causes of excessive resistance between 'Ground' terminal of 'FUEL FILTER WARNING SENSOR' harness connector and chassis ground, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
