HECU uses brake circuit signal as recgnozing driver's intention to stop.
The HECU checks for open or shorted circuits of the brake switch.
If an error is present in brake circuit which consists of fuse and stop lamp switch and stop signal eletronic module and HECU, the warning lamp will illuminate.
Item | Detecting Condition | Possible cause |
DTC Strategy |
•
Circuit Monitoring | 1. Fuse 2. Stop Lmap Switch 3. top Signal Eletronic Module (SSEM) 4. HECU (pressure sensor) 5. Open circuit in brake switch line 6. Poor connection |
Enable Conditions |
•
Outside an ABS/ESP(ESC) control, If the pressure sensor signal is higher than 15bar and brake light switch is OFF for 1sec, The failure is detected when the case occurs 3 times in same ignition cycle.
•
While reference vehicle speed is faster than 20km/h (12mph), master cylinder pressure is below 7bar, if brake light switch is ON longer than 2min. The failure is detected when the case occurs 3 times in same ignition cycle.
Fail Safe |
•
Inhibit the ESP(ESC) control.
•
BAS(PBA)/ESS functions are prohibited when a failure is detected 3 times.
MIL |
•
The ESP(ESC) warning lamp is activated.
Reset Condition |
•
Normal after IG turned on again and brake pressed for more than 1sec and brake released. |
