Ignition "OFF".

2.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF".

3.

Connect GDS and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC)" mode.

4.

Using a GDS, Clear DTC.

5.

Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC)" mode again.

6.

Are any DTCs present?

▶ Substitute with a known-good PCM(ECM) and check for proper operation. If problem is corrected, replace PCM(ECM) and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ If NG, replace steering column & EPS unit assembly and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Fault is intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness or it has been repaired and EPS CM memory is not cleared yet.

▶ Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
