The buckle pretensioners more retracting the belt reel, there are variants witch pull the belt buckle back and thus simultaneously tighten the lower side seat belt together with shoulder side (Belt pretensioners). The restraining effect and the protection afforded against occupants sliding forward beneath the lap belt are improved still further by buckle tighteners. The tightening process in these two systems (Belt & Buckle pretensioner) takes place in the same period of time as for belt tighteners. This high-performance tighters are able to pull back an extended belt approx. 18cm in length in roughly 5ms
When short or decreased resistance in Buckle pretensioner - Driver squib occurs. When the SRS warning light remains lit and a DTC code occurs, it means a short circuit or decreased resistance between the control module and Pretensioner harness.
