Description
caution

First of all check damage of terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.

Inspect intake system leakage and EGR solenoid valve first before inspecting MAFS.

Diagnostic Procedure
MAFS inspection.
1.

IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"

2.

Inspect contamination of air cleaner filter.

- Terrible contamination of air cleaner filter.

- Wetting of air cleaner filter.

3.

Inspect foreign substances (leaves, paper, vinyl) in front of MAFS and damage of the grid of MAFS.

MAFS current data inspection.
4.

IG KEY "ON", ENGINE "ON"

5.

Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).

6.

Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.

7.

Electrical system and A/CON "OFF".

8.

Select "Air mass flow (kg/h)", "EGR actuator" and "Engine speed sensor" parameters on the scantool.

9.

Monitor "Air mass flow (kg/h)" data when "EGR actuator" is not operated (4.3%) at idle, 1,500 rpm, 2,000 rpm, 2,800 rpm, 3,500 rpm.

Specification : MAFS current data (Load is not applied)

- EGR solenoid valve is operated for approx. 3 minutes after racing the accelerator pedal at warm up idle (Neutral, Load is not applied) and "EGR actuator" duty is to 4.3 % after 3 minutes.

- EGR solenoid valve is not operated while accelerating (Load is not applied).

Case 1 : In case that MAFS is higher than specification at idle and each rpm.

Replace MAFS after checking intake system leakage between VGT turbocharger and intake manifold.

Case 2 : In case that MAFS is lower than specification at idle and each rpm.

Replace MAFS after checking intake system leakage between MAFS and VGT turbocharger.
