Description
caution

To remove high pressure fuel system, Never perform any work engine running or within 60 minutes after the engine stops. It is recommended to wear safety glasses. Ensure the absolute cleanliness to prevent an inrush of foreign substances in high pressure fuel system.

Engine stalls and engine starting is impossible when rail pressure is lower than set point rail pressure. Perform the test as below to check the rail pressure regulator.

Diagnostic Procedure
Rail pressure regulator inspection
1.

IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"

2.

Install SST "CRT-1000" in the high pressure fuel system.

"CRT-1000 Tester Installation" of "Details Inspection(Equipment Setting)" reference

3.

Inspect high pressure fuel system with engine cranking.

Rail pressure regulator leak (open stuck) test
4.

While cranking when rail pressure regulator is actuated by using PRV Control Cable (CRT-1044),

- Common rail fuel pressure is above 1,200 bar rapidly.

- There must be no fuel leak from return hose of rail pressure regulator at testing.

A.

Case 1 : In case of fuel leak through return hose. (when rail fuel pressure is increased.)

Replace the common rail assembly. (valve seat of rail pressure regulator leak)

5.

While cranking when rail pressure regulator is actuated by using PRV Control Cable (CRT-1044),

- Common rail fuel pressure is above 1,000 bar rapidly.

- There must be no fuel leak from return hose of rail pressure regulator at testing.

6.

When rail pressure regulator is not actuated by disconnecting power supply,

- Common rail fuel pressure is released below 100 bar.

7.

While cranking when rail pressure regulator is not actuated by disconnecting power supply,

- Fuel is discharged through return hose and rail pressure must be blow 100 bar.

A.

Case 1 : In case that common rail fuel pressure is not released below 100 bar rapidly. (When rail pressure regulator is not actuated by disconnecting power supply.)

Rail pressure regulator strainer is blocked or close stuck.

Replace the common rail assembly.

B.

Case 2 : In case that common rail fuel pressure is increased above 100 bar while cranking. (When rail pressure regulator is not actuated by disconnecting power supply.)

Rail pressure regulator strainer is blocked or close stuck.

Replace the common rail assembly.
