If the ECM detects the fault of the SMARTRA or transponder, the ECM will allow limp home function of the immobilizer. Limp home is only possible if the user password (4digit) has been given to the ECM before. This password can be selected by the vehicle owner and is programmed at the service station.

When engine starting is impossible although engine cranking is possible, symptom is classified immobilizer system error and transponder (KEY) error by limp home function.

Immobilizer trouble shooting refer to DTC troubleshooting procedures.

Select the immobilizer function and press "02.Password teaching / changing."

Input the password (4digit) by using scantool.

5.

Confirm the password after inputting the password (4digit).

6.

Wait approx.10 seconds after confirming the password.

※ The limp home function can be activated by the ignition key.
