If engine stalls intermittently, Perform trouble shooting by approaching classified system. If symptom of the Engine stalling is similar to symptom of poor acceleration, the reason of engine stalling could be fuel system. For that reason fuel system should be checked first. The purpose of inspection is to check fuel pump by measuring fuel pressure and checking power circuit.
Check the fuel for excessive water,alcohol,or other contaminations.
Install a fuel pressure gauge.
Engine "ON"
Check fuel pressure of the fuel pressure gauge. (Check fuel pressure at idle, accelerating and stall test)
Specification : Approx. 350 kpa (3.5kg/cm², 49.8psi) at idle
(Fuel pressure is kept Approx. 360 kpa (3.6kg/㎠, 51.2psi) after it dropped to Approx. 320kpa(3.2kg/㎠, 42.7psi) at rapid accelerating and stall test.)
Is fuel pressure within specification when vehicle is accelerated?
YES
Go to Injector Inspection procedure.
NO
Replace the fuel pump assembly.
■ Performance test of fuel pump by ampere meter
1. Install ampere meter to power supply harness of the fuel pump after starting engine.
2. Measure ampere of power supply harness accelerating engine.
Ampere specification : 4.8~5.0 A
