If CKP & CMP signals is not input to ECM, ECM doesn’t control ignition and injection. ECM doesn’t control base of the power TR which is operate ignition coil, fuel pump, injector. Engine stalling could be caused by poor connection of CKP & CMP When vehicle is being stopped. The purpose of inspection is checking power and ground circuit of CKP & CMP.
Engine "ON"
Connect a scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC) and check the current data.
Check the "battery voltage" of the current data when engine stalls.
If battery voltage is lower than specification, check the fuse and harness.
Specification of battery voltage : 12~14V
Is battery voltage of the current data within the specification?
YES
Go to "CKP & CMP ground circuit inspection" procedure as below.
NO
Replace the fuse or Check poor connection of the joint connector as note.
■ Joint connector supplying power
IG "OFF"
Check ground point of the ECM.
Check connection condition of the ground shaking the ground point.
Is ground point of the CKP & CMP normal?
YES
Ground point is OK.
NO
Tighten the ground point again or Replace the harness
