This vehicle equipped siemens EMS. ECM can`t ignite when CKP and CMP are faulty at the same time. Inspect the signal waveforms of CKP and CMP first. So, if they are normal, Go to "CKP+CMP signal is OK Inspection" procedure. Otherwise, go to "CKP+CMP signal is bad Inspection" procedure.
Connect a scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC).
Select oscilloscope function on a scantool.
Connect CH A,B to CKP & CMP sensor signal harness
CH A : Terminal "2" of the CKP sensor connector
CH B : Terminal "2" of the CMP sensor connector
Turn the ignition switch to the "START" position.
Check CKP & CMP signal waveforms.
Are CKP & CMP signal waveforms normal,
Go to "CKP+CMP signal is OK Inspection" procedure.
Are CKP & CMP signal waveforms abnormal,
Go to "CKP+CMP signal is bad Inspection" procedure.
■ Method of distinction between normal and abnormal CKP
1. Connect a scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC).
2. Select a current data function on scantool.
3. Monitor the "Engine speed" data on the scantool.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "START" position.
▶ In a case of normal CKP, The "ENGINE SPEED" current data rises over about 200 rpm.
