Engine hesitation of common rail diesel engine is classified engine hesitation at cold start, continuous engine hesitation, intermittent engine hesitation. Inspect symptoms exactly to find the cause of engine hesitation.
Be sure the vehicle is on level ground.
Check the engine oil level and ATF (Automatic Transaxle Fluid) level.
Check contamination of the air cleaner filter.
Check hose and clamp connection of the intake hose.
Check vacuum hose connection and misconnection of the VGT system.
Check fuel leak in the low and high pressure fuel system.
Check DTC related with engine and A/T system.
Case 1 : In case that there is engine hesitation at cold start but engine hesitation disappear after a while.
Go to "Engine hesitation at cold start inspection" procedure.
Case 2 : In case of continuous engine hesitation after warming up.
Go to "Engine compression test inspection" procedure.
Case 3 : In case that engine stalls after engine hesitation.
Intermittent engine hesitation occurs while driving,
- Inspect poor connection of all sensor and actuators circuit including CKPS, CMPS, Injector circuit.
- Repair the trouble causing part refer to "DTC troubleshooting procedures", after monitoring DTC.
