Description
caution

Excessive exhaust smokes or high exhaust gas temperature could be caused by poor acceleration and poor power in common rail diesel engine. Therefore, turbocharger and catalytic converter (or CPF : Catalyzed Particulate Filter) could be damaged by excessive exhaust smokes or high exhaust gas temperature..

Incase of poor acceleration, do not drive the vehicle for a long time and do not accelerate quickly. It is inspected immediately.

Follow the Inspection procedure as below.

Diagnostic Procedure
Basic inspection
1.

Check the engine oil level and automatic transmission fluid level.

2.

Check the coolant level.

3.

Check the air cleaner element.

4.

Check the intake hose connection and the hose clamp.

5.

Check the vacuum hose connection of VGT control. (Check whether the vacuum hose is disconnected or changed.)

6.

Check the leak of low and high pressure fuel system.

7.

Check DTCs relate to engine and automatic transmission.

A.

Case 1 : In case of abnormal acceleration after warming up.(Engine hesitation or poor acceleration appears for a while at cold starting.)

Go to "Poor acceleration at cold starting inspection" procedure.

B.

Case 2 : In case of sudden poor power and impossible acceleration above certain rpm at driving.

Go to "Poor acceleration inspection" procedure.

C.

Case 3 : In case of a little poor power above a certain engine road at driving.

Go to "Continuous poor power inspection" procedure.

D.

Case 4 : In case of the blinked malfunction indicator, poor power or impossible acceleration above certain rpm at driving.

Go to "CPF (Catalyzed Particulate Filter) inspection" procedure.
