Inspect the damage, melting of DOC and CPF
- DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) : the front of CPF
- CPF (Catalyzed Particulate Filter) : the rear of CPF
If excessive exhaust fumes is discharged by CPF system and Engine control system malfunction. CPF would be damaged by excessive exhaust fumes.
If excessive exhaust fumes is discharged through exhaust muffler or vehicle is driven for a long time with poor acceleration, Inspect the CPF visually after removing the CPF.
IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"
Wait until muffler is cooled down sufficiently.
Be very careful not to touch the muffler as it may be hot enough to burn you.
Remove the CPF carefully after marking to differential pressure sensor hose for misconnection. (Don"t strike the CPF.)

Inspect floating of DOC, CPF in the CPF assembly by moving sound. (DOC and CPF must be fixed.)
Install the CPF assembly.
IG "ON", ENGINE "ON"
Inspect exhaust gas whether black smoke is out or not.
Case 1 : In case of melting of DOC (CPF) in the CPF assembly ,
Replace the CPF assembly.
- Repair the trouble causing part before replacing.
- Reset "Coverage driven length" and "Eng on time" after replacing the CPF assembly.
Case 2 : In case of floating sound in the CPF assembly, (When CPF assembly is shaken.)
Fixing between CPF assembly housing and DOC (CPF) is off or broken.
Replace the CPF assembly.
- Reset "Coverage driven length" and "Eng on time" after replacing the CPF assembly.
Case 3 : In case that black smoke is discharged through muffler. (When engine is accelerated after installing the CPF assembly.)
Small crack or broken of CPF in the CPF assembly.
Replace the CPF assembly.
- Reset "Coverage driven length" and "Eng on time" after replacing the CPF assembly.
Case 4 : In case of no trouble in the CPF assembly,.
Go to "CPF regeneration inspection" procedure.
