Description

First of all check engine timing which could affect poor power/acceleration using current data of the scantool. If engine timing is OK, Input/output signals could be checked.

Diagnostic Procedure
Engine timing Inspection
1.

Engine "ON" and warm up the engine until cooling fan is operated.

2.

Connect a scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC).

3.

Check current data.

A.

Specification :

Normal condition of the timing belt : CMP fall edge : 38 teeth, CMP rise edge : 98 Teeth

- Small tension of the timing belt - Around 1 tooth is difference from normal condition.

- Large tension of the timing belt - Around 3 teeth is difference from normal condition.

Abonormal condition of the timing belt

- Jumping 1tooth across timing mark - Around 5 ~6 teeth is difference from normal condition.

B.

Is "Normal condition for CMP fall edge and CMP rise edge data" displayed?

Go to "Basic Inspection" procedure as below.

C.

Is "Abnormal condition for CMP fall edge and CMP rise edge data" displayed?

Check and Reassemble engine timing.

caution

■ Timing marks confirmation for the camshaft and crankshaft pulley

Confirm the camshaft and crankshaft pulley marks. Timing marks to be visually aligned with centers of adjacent cast timing notches.

Fuel Inspection
4.

IG "OFF"

5.

Remove the fuel pump and inspect the fuel condition.

6.

Is the fuel normal?

YES

Go to "Basic Inspection" procedure.

NO

Replace the fuel.

caution

■ Characteristic of abnormal gasoline

1) Toxic odor

2) Eyes stung

3) Hard vaporizing

4) Knocking suddenly after fuelling up

5) Hard starting after fuelling up(In the winter)

■ Influence of abnormal gasoline

1) Knocking

2) Excessive fuel consumption

3) Poor power/acceleration

4) Fuel system damage such as fuel pump, Injector and component of the combustion-camber damage such as (pistion etc...)

5) Deposit rising or corrosion (in the engine and fuel system)

6) Fuel pressure decrease or Engine stalling by vapor lock.

7) Impossible starting by low volatile

8) Discharge carcinogen

9) Discharge pollutant(CO, HC, NOx etc...)
