Engine hestitation is caused by faulty pistion ring or faulty valve system. The purpose of the Inspection is to analyze the cause of hesitation through wet type compression pressure inspection.
Disconnect Engine Control Relay.
Remove spark plugs
Insert a compression gauge into the spark plug hole.
Fully open the throttle.
While cranking the engine, measure the compression pressure.
Specification
Compression pressure : 1,420 kPa [14.5 kgf/㎠, 206 psi]
Minimum pressure : 1,270 kPa [13 kgf/㎠, 184 psi]
Difference between each cylinder : 100 kPa [1.0 kgf/㎠, 15 psi]
Is the compression pressure normal?
YES
Compression pressure is OK.
NO
Go to "Wet type compression pressure Inspection" procedure as below.
IG "OFF"
Inject engine oil about 10cc to the cylinder.
Measure compression pressure when cylinder is wet.
Is compression pressure increased?
YES
Disassemble and repair the engine cylinder.
NO
Disassemble and repair the valve system.
* If compression pressure is low after wet type compression Inspection, Most fault is head gasket problem.
