Measure the charging current after acelerating above 2,000 rpm.
First of all check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.
The test is to inspect the charging system (alternator) performance. Measure the alternator current to inspect the charging system performance.
IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "ON"
Install the ampere meter.
Turn on electric devices (head lamps, fog lamps, defogger, blower…etc)
Measure the charging current after acelerating above 2,000 rpm.
Charging voltage of alternator should be 13.0 ~ 14.5 V.
Charging current of alternator should be above 80 % of alternator capacity.
Case 1 : In case that charging voltage is below 12.5 V and charging current is too low.
Inspect charging system circuit after checking tension and slip of the alternator belt.
If charging current is abnormal although charging system circuit is normal,
- Replace the alternator.
