When engine stalls after poor acceleration occurs, Inspect intake system leakage, faulty MAFS and EGR solenoid valve sticking by monitoring MAFS and EGR actuator current data.
IG KEY "ON", ENGINE "ON".
Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
Electrical system and A/CON "OFF".
Select "Air mass meter", "EGR actuator" and "Engine speed sensor" parameters on the scantool.
Monitor "Air mass meter" data when "EGR actuator" is not operated (4.3 %) and "EGR actuator" is operated (Approx. 12 ~ 45%).
Specification
- "EGR actuator" is not operated (4.3 %) at idle : 410mg/st ± 20mg/st (750±50RPM)
- "EGR actuator" is operated (12~45 %) at idle : lower than EGR solenoid valve is not operated. Monitor a downward trend of "Air mass per cylinder" data. (It should be decreased before "EGR actuator" data will be 12.2 %.) When "EGR actuator" is operated by duty 12.2 % at idle after accelerating, "Air mass per cylinder" data is not changed.
- EGR solenoid valve is operated for approx. 3 minutes after racing the accelerator pedal at warm up idle (Neutral, Load is not applied) and "EGR actuator" duty is to 4.3% after 3 minutes.
Case 1 : In case that "Air mass flow" data by operating EGR solenoid valve is normal
Go to "VGT inspection" procedure.
Case 2 : In case that "Air mass meter" data is lower than 300 mg/st although "EGR actuator" data is 4.3 %.
Inspect EGR solenoid valve open stuck after checking intake hose leakage between MAFS and VGT.

Case 3 : In case that "Air mass meter" data is above 300 mg/st although "EGR actuator" data is 12~45% (EGR solenoid valve is operated).
Inspect blocked EGR cooler or EGR solenoid valve open stuck after checking intake hose leakage between intake manifold and VGT (through intercooler)
(If there is EGR solenoid valve open stuck or intake system leakage or faulty MAFS, Current data could be different as above.)
