When cranking sound is abnormal and hard cranking occurs although engine cranking is possible, Inspect the engine compression pressure and engine timing belt alignment.
Case 1 : Incase of abnormal engine compression pressure,
- Cranking is irregular.
- Heavy engine hesitation occurs after starting.
- A lot of blow-by gas is discharged through breather hose.
Go to "Compression pressure inspection" procedure.
Case 2 : Incase of inaccurate alignment of the engine timing belt,
- Cranking speed is very fast. (There is no compression pressure.)
- Poor acceleration and poor power occur after starting.
- There is abnormal belt noise in the timing belt cover.
- There is mechanical noise in the rocker cover.
