Description
caution

First of all check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.

Measure operating current to inspect connecting condition of power circuit, operating performance of actuator and motor, ground condition.

Diagnostic Procedure
Fuel pump current inspection
1.

IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"

2.

Remove the fuel pump relay on the E/R compartment junction box.

3.

Connect fuel pump relay power terminal (between terminal "30" and terminal "87", junction box side) directly using jump wire.

4.

Measure the current.

A.

Specification : Approx. 5.0 ~ 6.0 A

caution

Fuel pump current : 5.0 ~ 6.0 A

B.

Case 1 : In case that current is 0 A intermittently, Engine hesitation occurs or engine stalls.

Repair poor connection or open circuit between fuel pump relay connector (E14) terminal "2" and chassis ground (G14).

Repair poor connection of the fuel pump connector (F22) and connection connector (EM02, MF01)

C.

Case 2 : In case that current is increased suddenly and ECU fusible link (30A) on the E/R fuse & relay box is blown.

Repair short to ground circuit between fuel pump relay connector (E14) terminal "2" and chassis ground (G14).

D.

Case 3 : In case that current is too low.

Repair the resistance causing problem between fuel pump relay connector (E14) terminal "2" and chassis ground (G14).

Inspect the fuel pump.

E.

Case 4 : In case that there is no trouble after disconnecting fuel pump relay and current is normal.

Go to "Fuel pump relay inspection" procedure.
