Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

YES

a.

Repair as necessary and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure

NO

a.

Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect the "ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR" connector

3.

Measure the voltage between terminal "1" of the "ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR" harness connector and chassis ground.

a.

Specification : Approx. 5 V

4.

Is voltage within specifications ?

YES

a.

Go to "Ground circuit inspection" procedure

NO

a.

Check for short to ground in harness. Repair as necessary and Go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure

Ground Circuit inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF"

2.

Disconnect the "ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR" connector

3.

Measure the resistance between terminal "2" of the "ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR" harness connector and chassis ground.

a.

Specification : Approx. 0 Ω

4.

Is resistance within specifications ?

YES

a.

Go to "Component Inspection" procedure

NO

a.

Check for open in harness. Repair as necessary and Go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure
