Terminal & Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" as below.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

IG key "ON", Engine "OFF".

2.

Perform "Oscilloscope" procedure in the "Vehicle S/W Management" with GDS.

3.

Measure the signal waveform between "B-CAN_High" terminal of "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER" harness connector and chassis ground.

4.

Measure the signal waveform between "B-CAN_LOW" terminal of "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER" harness connector and chassis ground.

Reference data
5.

Does the measured signal waveform follow the reference data?

▶ Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

▶ Repair as necessary, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check open/poor connection in the "B-CAN_High" line.

▶ Check open/poor connection in the "B-CAN_LOW" line.

▶ Substitute with a known-good "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER" and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER" and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
