Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found ?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" as below.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

IG key "ON", Engine "OFF".

2.

Perform "Oscilloscope" procedure in the "Vehicle S/W Management" with GDS.

3.

Measure the signal waveform between "B-CAN_High" terminal of "SMART JUNCTION BOX" harness connector and chassis ground.

4.

Measure the signal waveform between "B-CAN_LOW" terminal of "SMART JUNCTION BOX" harness connector and chassis ground.

Reference data
5.

Does the measured signal waveform follow the reference data?

▶ Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

▶ Repair as necessary, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check open/poor connection in the B_CAN "HIGH" line.

▶ Check open/poor connection in the B_CAN "LOW" line.

▶ Substitute with a known-good "SMART JUNCTION BOX" and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace "SMART JUNCTION BOX" and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
