Terminal & Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found ?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "SMK Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

IG "ON" & ENG "OFF".

2.

Measure voltage between ESCL power terminal and chassis ground.

(Measure the voltage while ESCL doesn't work.)

Is the measured voltage within specifications ?

▶Go to "Check short to power on ESCL power circuit" procedure.

▶ Check open or short on the power circuit between SMK and ESCL.

Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

Disconnect the connectors of SMK, ESCL

6.

Measure voltage between ESCL power terminal and chassis ground.

Is the measured voltage within specifications ?

▶ Substitute with a known - good ESCL and check for proper operation.

If the problem is corrected, replace the unit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Substitute with a known - good SMK and check for proper operation.

If the problem is corrected, replace the unit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ If short to battery in ESCL power line between SMK and ESCL, repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
