How to Check the CKP Sensor

BASIC INSPECTION

Before performing the inspection of CKP and CMP sensor, make sure that the follwing items :

① Incorrect installation position and loose

② CKP tooth and CMP dowel pin condition

③ Metal abrasion or dirt at sensor

CHECK PROCEDURE

1.

Connect the ohmmeter the probes and measure the resistance between the CKP terminal 2 and the terminal 3.

Specification : 860 ± 10% Ω at 20℃(68℉)

2.

Rotate the crankshaft clockwise and check the bent or damaged tooth wheel.

3.

Be sure to be checked the CKP toothed wheel after removing the balance shaft assembly and the oil pan if necessary.

How to Check Timing Velt Arrangement

BASIC INSPECTION

Before performing the inspection of timing belt arrangement, make sure that the follwing items :

① Timing belt flaws

② Crankshaft gear wheel demage including the pulley and the auto tensioner

③ Camshaft sensing poniter deamge including the sproket

CHECK PROCEDURE

4.

Rotate the crankshaft clockwise and align the timing mark to set the No.1 cylinder position to TDC.

5.

At this time, timing mark of the camshaft sprocket and the top surface of the cylinder head should conicided (Refer to "A")

6.

The timing mark of the crankshaft sproket and the dowel pin of oil pump housing should coincided (Refer to "B")

note

For checking the crankshaft and the camshaft timing mark, rotate the engine more than 2 revelution.

7.

Check the auto tensioner for leaking and replace if necessary.

8.

Check the rod end for wear or damage and replace if necessary. For more information, refer to the shop manual.
