Operation :
A passenger side airbag(PSAB) module located in the left side of passenger’s seat which contains a folded cushion together with an inflator unit as above picture. The firing system for the side airbag consists of a SRSCM installed in the middle of the vehicle and two satellites sensor one on the left-hand side and one on the right. Only the SRSCM is capable of releasing the airbags or the seat-belt pretensioners systems in the vehicle. The satellites act as intelligent acceleration sensor, and as such back up the center airbag controller. Both the satellites continuously report the current system status on the left and right-hand side of the vehicle to the SRSCM.
Self-diagnosis System :
A self-diagnosis circuit is built into the SRS control module, When the ignition switch is turned ON, the SRSCM indicator light comes on and goes off after about six seconds if the system is operating normally. If the light does not come on, or does not go off after six second, or if it comes on while driving, it indicates an abnormality in the system. The system must be inspected and repair as soon possible.
For bettery serviceability, the memory will store the cause of the malfunction, and the data link circuit passes on the information from the memory to the data link connector (DLC). This information can be read with the Scantool Diagnosis connected to the DLC (16P).
When the passenger’s airbag inflator circuit short to battery. When the SRS warning light remain lite up and with DTC code, this means SRS circuit or increased voltage between control module and airbag harness.
