Check Spark Plugs
1.

Remove all spark plugs.

2.

Visually/physically inspect the following items:

- Check if the spark plug for the relevant cylinder is lighter in color than the other plugs.

- Oil or fuel fouled/ damaged insulation/ worn electrodes

- Loose terminals and cracks

- Check the plug gap : 1.0 - 1.1 mm (0.039 - 0.043 in.)

Was a problem found in any of the above areas?

YES

a.

Test with a new spark plug and check for proper operation.If problem is corrected, replace it.

And go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

NO

a.

Go to "Check Secondary Coil Resistance" procedure.

4.

Remove all spark plugs.

5.

Visually/physically inspect the following items:

- Damage, cracks and flahover

6.

Measure the resistance of secondary coil.

1)

[Specification] Approx. 20kΩ at 20°C(68°F)

7.

Is the displayed value within the specified value?

YES

a.

Go to "Check Injector for Blockage or Fuel Leakage" procedure.

NO

a.

Test with a new coil and check for proper operation.If problem is corrected, replace it.

And go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

8.

Check injector for blockage or fuel leakage.

note

Be sure to reduce the fuel pressure before disconnecting the injector, otherwise fuel will spill out.

9.

Is there a problem?

YES

a.

Test with a new injector and check for proper operation.If problem is corrected, replace it.

And go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

NO

a.

Go to "System Inspection" procedure.
