Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
Has a problem been found?
YES
Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO
Go to "SIS Inspection" procedure
Check Side Impact Sensor assy passanger side
Disconnect the battery negative cable, then disconnect the positive cable, and wait at least one minutes.
Interchange the Side Impact Sensor assy (LH) and (RH) and connect the connectors to them.
Connect the battery negative(-) cable to the battery.
Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF" and wait at least one minutes.
Clear the DTC stored in memory.
Ignition "OFF" and wait at least one minutes.
Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF" and wait at least one minutes.
Check the DTC.
Is DTC B1403 present ?
YES
Repair as necessary, Substitute the wiring harness or SRSCM and check for proper operation.
If the problem is corrected,replace SRS wiring harness or SRSCM if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
☞ Side Impact Sensor is OK this moment, Do not change Sensor.
NO
Replace Side Impact Sensor (L/H) and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
☞ Side Impact Sensor driver side (L/H) are defected.
