Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(s) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Check the following conditions:

(1)

Check for damaged harness and terminals: contact resistance, oxidation, bent or broken terminals.

(2)

Check for poor connection between ECM and component: backed out terminal, improper mating, broken locks or poor terminal to wire connection

note

Use a suitable male pin to ensure that contact in sockets is good. The pin should remain in position when pulled gently.

3.

Has a problem been found?

YES

a.

Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure

NO

a.

Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or PCM's connector or was repaired and PCM memory was not cleared.

b.

System OK

Power Supply Circuit Inspection
1.

Turn ignition switch OFF → ON and disconnect ATM SOLENOID VALVE connector

2.

Measure resistance between terminal 4 of the ATM SOLENOID VALVE harness connector and terminal 6 of the PCM harness connector

1)

Test condition : Ignition " ON "

2)

Specification: 12V is measured for approx. 0.5sec

3.

Is 12 V measured for approx. 0.5 sec ?

YES

a.

Go to "Signal circuit open inspection" procedure

NO

a.

Check for open and short in harness between terminal 9 of the ATM SOLENOID VALVE harness connector and terminal 3 o f the ATM CONTROL RELAY harness connector (if line is faulty, it will be displayed with UD, OD Solenoid Valve trouble code.)

b.

Repair as necessary and Go to "Verification Vehcle Repair" procedure

Signal Circuit Inspection
Signal Circuit Open Inspection
1.

Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect PCM connector

2.

Measure resistance between terminal 4 of the ATM SOLENOID VALVE harness connector and terminal 16 of the TCM harness connector

1)

Specification: below 1 Ω

3.

Does resistance indicate continuity?

YES

a.

Go to "PCM Inspection" of the "Component Inspection" procedure

NO

a.

Repair open in harness and Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure

Signal Circuit Short Inspection
4.

Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect TCM connector

5.

Measure resistance between terminal 6 of the TCM harness connector and chassis ground

1)

Specification: Infinite

6.

Does resistance indicate infinite ?
