System Inspection

Check Air Cleaner

(1)

Check the air cleaner for dirt, blockage, or damage.

(2)

Is the air cleaner damaged or clogged with dirt ?

YES

▶ Repair or Replace as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

NO

▶ Go to "Check Intake System for Air Leak" as below.

Check Intake System for Air Leak

(1)

Check intake tube, breather hose and MAFS for any sources of air leaks.

(2)

Are there any cracks in intake tube, MAFS or breather hose and are all bands loose and incorrectly installed?

YES

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

NO

▶ Go to "Check Throttle Position Sensor" as below.

Check Throttle Position Sensor

(1)

Igniton "OFF" and disconnect TPS connector.

(2)

Measure resistance between terminal 1 and 3 of the TPS connector.

(3)

Measure resistance between terminal 1 and 2 of the TPS connector.

Specification :

TPS Terminal

Resistance

Resistance(terminal 1 and 2)

3.5 ~6.5 kΩ at all throttle position

Resistance(terminal 1 and 3)

Resistance changes smoothly in proportion with the throttle valve opening angle.

(4)

Operate the throttle valve slowly from the idle position to the wide open position and check the resistance changes smoothly in proportion with the throttle valve opening angle.

1)

Specification : Resistance changes smoothly in proportion to the throttle valve opening angle.

(5)

Is the TPS normal ?

YES

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

NO

▶ Repair or Substitute with a known-good TPS and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace TPS as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
