Component Inspection
How to Check the Radiator Cooling Fan

BASIC INSPECTION

Before performing the inspection of A/C condensor fan, make sure that the follwing items :

① Refrigerant capacity

② A/C triple switch damage or crack with he wiring harness

③ The coolant temperature through he scan tool (A/C system is not working in case of more than 120℃(248℉) of coolant temperature)

CHECK PROCEDURE

1. Condensor fan relay No.1 test (Normally-open type A)

① Remove the condensor fan relay and there should be the continuity between the terminal 1 and the terminal 2 when power and ground are connected to the terminal 3 and the terminal 5.

② There should be no continuity between the terminal 1 and the terminal 2 when power is disconnected.

2. Condensor fan relay No.2 test (Five-terminal type B)

① Remove the condensor fan relay and there should be the continuity between the terminal 1 to the terminal 5 when power and ground are connected to the terminal 2 and the terminal 4.

② There should be continuity between the terminal 3 to the terminal 5 when power is disconnected. But there should be the continuity betweeen the terminal 3 and the terminal 5 when power is disconnected.

2. Condensor Fan motor test

① Disconnect the 2 terminal connector from the condensor fan motor.

② Test the motor by connecting battery power to the terminal 1 and ground to the terminal 2.

③ If the motor fails to run or does not run smoothly, replace the motor.
