Actual value for evaluation
Engine warm up to approx. 80℃(176℉) and engine stop
Check items with the scantool
① Coolant temperature current data
② Fan low speed and fan high speed current data
③ Acuation test for the fan-high or fan-low speed driving
CURRENT DATA AND ACTUATION TEST
The ECM controls the operation of the radiator fan motor by using engine coolant temperature signal. And the ECM also monitors the radiator relay input signal. Using this signal, the ECM controls the coil of the radiator fan relay to provide optimal cooling fan operation. When the coolant temperature is reach to the approx. 95℃(203℉), the radiator fan is rotated in the low speed mode. When the coolant temperature is reach to the approx. 104℃(219.2℉), the radiator fan is rotated in the high speed mode. For checking the wire from the fuses to the relay with the ECM circuit, the START key should be pressed in the scan tool actuation test mode. And then make sure that the cooling fan should be rotated in the fan low speed or the fan high speed.
IS THE RADIATOR OR A/C CONDENSOR FAN OPERATED NORMALLY ?
YES
Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor’s and/or ECM’s connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared.
Check for intermittent fault by observing the data parameter for a sudden change while wiggling the wiring and tapping lightly on the suspect component.
Be careful not to damage wires or components during the test.
Repair as necessary and go to " Verification of Vehicle Repair " procedure
NO
Go to " W/Harness Inspection " procedure.
