The pretensioner (BPT) is located in the driver and passenger’s lower side center pillar (as shown in above picture) together with a seat belt retractor unit. The pretensioner seat belt helps to reduce the severity of injury to the front seat occupant by retracting the seat belt webbing. This prevents the occupant from thrusting forward and hitting the steering wheel(driver) or the instrument panel (passenger) during an accident.
When short battery circuit to the driver side pretensioner’s squib occurs. When the SRS warning light remains lit and a DTC code occurs, this means a shorted battery circuit to the Pretensioner harness.
